 Kishahtek # 88

On November 23rd, 2011, the great State of Michigan began a new era under the Area Project Crossroads recommendation. The Michigan Coordinating Council was deployed to create new Field Service Councils throughout the state of Michigan. The State of Michigan currently has nine councils. At the end of this journey, we will have four new councils.

This organizational change includes taking Great Sauk Trail Council (Ann Arbor) and the Southwest Michigan Council (Kalamazoo) joining together to create a new council. For more details on this project, please visit http://www.bsaareaproject.org.

This change will also impact the Order of the Arrow lodges of these two councils. Manitous 88 of Great Sauk Trail Council and Nacha-Mawat 373 of Southwest Michigan Council will join together to create a new lodge. This page was designed to update members of either lodge as to the progress we have made on this journey as the youth leaders of both lodges are working together to create a new stronger lodge to serve the youth of the Order of the Arrow into the Future.

On February 18th, 2012, both Manitous 88 and Nacha-Mawat 373 came together and voted on the creation of the new lodge. The new lodge will be named Kishahtek #88 which translates in the Lenape Dictionary to "Northern Lights." The lodge totem will be the Wolverine.

"From the beginning it has been our hope that the Order would serve a useful
purpose in causing the Scout Promise and Law to spring into action, especially in the Scout camps in all parts of our nation.  We are still dedicated to this high purpose."

E. Urner Goodman, Founder of the Order of the Arrow
